What is a tally counter?

A tally counter counts things one at a time: people at a door, items on a shelf, reps, laps or prayers. Each press adds one. This free online tally counter works like a handheld clicker, with undo, multiple counters, targets and a timed history you can export. People use it for door headcounts, stock checks, reps and laps, tasbih, knitting rows, votes and field surveys.

Try the extras

Draw any number as tally marks, test a presentation clicker or foot pedal for hands-free counting, or learn the keyboard shortcuts.

Tally marks group counts in fives: four upright lines and a fifth across them, so long counts are quick to read and check.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tally counter free?

Yes. Every feature is free, with no signup, no app to install and no limit on counters.

Does it save my count if I close the page?

Yes. Every change saves instantly in your browser on this device, so your counters, targets and history are waiting when you come back. Clearing browser data or using a private window removes them, so export a CSV if the count matters.

Can I count several things at once?

Yes. Press + next to the counter tabs to add as many counters as you need. Each has its own name, color, target and history, and the total shows above the number. Quick start templates set up common jobs like tasbih, people in and out, or votes in one tap.

How do I undo a mistake?

Tap Undo, or press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) or U. Each press reverses one change, including a reset.

Is an online counter better than a mechanical clicker?

A mechanical clicker is rugged and needs no battery, but it counts one thing, cannot undo and keeps no record. An online counter handles several counts at once, fixes mistakes, alerts you at a target and keeps a timed history. With a presentation clicker or foot pedal you can still count without looking.

Does it work offline and on my phone?

Yes. It works on any phone, tablet or computer, keeps working offline after your first visit, and can be installed from your browser menu to open like an app. On most phones the screen stays awake while you count.

How do I export my counts?

Open More and tap Export CSV. The file lists every change with its date, time and running total, and opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Copy summary puts the totals on your clipboard instead. Your counts never leave your device unless you export them; see the privacy policy.
